Skilled Manufacturing Welder

Finn Corporation, a leader in Innovative Ground Management Solutions, for over 80 years, has an immediate opening for an experienced and highly skilled Welder. Our company provides a productive, friendly, and collaborative work environment, industry leading products, solid financials, and competitive pay and benefits.

As a Welder, you will provide support for manufacturing for heavy duty industrial equipment. The work will include tacking, fitting, welding and metal fabrication. You will weld a range of materials from thin-gauge to thick plate metals. We are seeking a highly skilled Welder with experience performing MIG Welding in a fast-paced production environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Weld and assemble mechanical parts and components with a high level of precision and attention to detail.

  • Follow instructional documents and specifications with a high level of accuracy.

  • Learn and apply proper installation methods for hydraulic systems, wiring, engine and assembly methods.

  • Assist team members and perform other duties as required.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing MIG Welding

  • Demonstrated proficiency in welding to blueprints, specs and weld symbols.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing visual inspections on completed welds.

  • Capability to perform careful and precise welding operations, with a level of excellence, and with strict tolerance requirements.

  • An established work record which has demonstrated excellent attendance, high levels of accuracy, a commitment to quality and satisfactory levels of productivity.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work which includes frequent lifting of at least 50 pounds, ability to stand for long periods of time, and ability to work with heavy equipment in an industrial setting.

  • Ability to work overtime as required.

  • Previous work experience in manufacturing .

  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Team player who works to assist others.

  • Takes personal accountability for job duties and results.

  • Experience or strong aptitude for mechanical systems.

  • Certification from a vocational or technical welding program desired.

  • Previous work experience in mechanics, hydraulics, wiring, engines or assembly methods desired.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist experienced operators as required.

Education, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent attendance.

  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience and strong aptitude for mechanical systems.

  • Basic mathematical skills, and ability to calculate precise measurements.

  • Strong attention to details, quality and accuracy.

  • Team player who works to assist and support others.

  • Vocational mechanical training preferred.

  • Previous work experience in manufacturing. (Lean manufacturing, Tier 2 or Tier 3 experience a plus).

  • Previous work experience in hydraulics, wiring, engines or assembly methods a plus.

Mechanical Assembly Operator Level III Criteria:

On a production basis, performs mechanical assembly work that is typically of high complexity and/or requires fitting, alignment and adjustment of components, units and assemblies to very close tolerances. Work requires manipulative skills of a high level, facility with a wide variety of hand tools and measuring instruments, and also sufficient understanding of the functional operation of the items assembled to make minor modifications and parts substitutions in the assembly process. Work typically involves wide variety of operations with a long work cycle. May perform some trouble-shooting and rework of production items. Must be able to work from complex and detailed assembly blueprints and/or verbal and written instructions with a minimum of supervision.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing Environment. Frequent exposure to noise, fumes and dust.

Physical Demands:

This position frequently lifts heavy objects and/or up to 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs., walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively lifts and carries heavy loads. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand and arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. It also requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Seeing with the ability to read reports, data, statistics and information on computer screens are required.
